First Look at Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond in Green Lantern

Either Warner Bros. is purposely allowing photos to leak out for its latest comic book adaptation, Green Lantern, in the hopes of building interest in one of its lesser-known superheroes, or it simply has the most lax security of any major motion picture in recent memory. One scooper for ComicBookMovie was able to snag pictures of director Martin Campbell and title star Ryan Reynolds on the set, as well as a shot of an experimental aircraft, and even got into the warehouse where the movie costumes are kept. Now, Showbiz has snagged a photo of Peter Sarsgaard in full makeup (plus iPhone!) as Green Lantern's antagonist, Hector Hammond.
For the uninitiated, Green Lantern is the title of countless intergalactic peacekeepers who form the Green Lantern Corps in the DC Universe of charcters that includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the Flash. Empowered by rings which can manifest anything that the user has the imagination to conceive and the willpower to materialize, the Green Lanterns are some of the most powerful characters in the DC Universe. In the movie, Reynolds plays Hal Jordan, the second and most popular character to bear the mantle of the Green Lantern. Sarsgaard's character, Hector Hammond, was a petty criminal who, upon exposure to a radioactive meteorite, developed incredible psionic powers and immortality, but became paralyzed in the process. Though physically no match for Green Lantern, Hammond's incredible mind abilities disrupt the hero's ability to use his ring, making him an extremely deadly enemy.
Green Lantern is currently filming in New Orleans. Tim Robbins, Mark Strong and Blake Lively also star.
