Looks like Paul Dano is going to try to drink some alien milkshake. Deadline reports that the There Will Be Blood actor has joined the Jon Favreau-directed adaptation of Cowboys and Aliens as a cowboy who joins Daniel Craig in the fight against an alien uprising in 1873 Arizona.
Joining alongside Dano is Clancy Brown (A Nightmare on Elm Street), who will also play a cowboy, and Keith Carradine (Dexter), who will play the town sheriff. Whether Brown and Dano will play townspeople of the fictional city of Absolution or members of the gang led by Harrison Ford, who plays the town's tyrannical, de-facto leader Colonel Dolarhyde, is unknown at this time. Previously cast Olivia Wilde will play a traveler named Ella, while Sam Rockwell will play a bar owner named Doc.
Based on the comic book by Scott Mitchell Rosenburg, Cowboys and Aliens was adapted by screenwriters Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof, and Roberto Orci, and could possibly join the ranks of movies shot in 3-D. Favreau admitted that the movie might use the format on his Twitter page.
Spent the week prepping Cowboys & Aliens. Shot 3D tests. Weighing out all options.
