Blood Oath Promises to Bring Guys Back to Vampire Movies

Yeah, we know. Ever since Twilight the industry is in a glut of vampire stories, with books, movies, and TV shows trying to cash in on the phenom. But here's one vampire project that promises a new twist. Christopher Farnsworth's novel Blood Oath is just hitting the shelves, and has already been picked up by the man behind Mr. & Mrs. Smith, producer Lucas Foster. We've learned that Foster's company Warp Films now has the rights.
The story follows vampire Nathaniel Cade, who is captured by the U.S. Army after the Civil War and forced to swear an oath to President Andrew Johnson. He's then gone on to protect the presidency in the Secret Service for more than 150 years. Sounds interesting, right? Kind of like 24 with teeth.
Foster has snagged both the first and second books, even though the second is still being penned. The first novel is about a plot involving a monstrous new form of biological weapon with a connection to the White House and focuses on the action and bringing in different supernatural creatures.
After all the deep sighs, long stares, and sparkling skin, this kind of action-oriented supernatural story is just what the genre needs to expand the audience.
