Brad Pitt and Darren Aronofsky Collaborate on The Tiger

Is the third time the charm for actor Brad Pitt and director Darren Aronofsky? Pitt had originally planned to star in Aronofsky's The Fountain and both were initially attached to The Fighter. Now, Variety reports the duo will try to team up again, this time on an adventure thriller based on the as-yet-unpublished nonfiction book The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival by John Vaillant.
The Tiger revolves around a conservationist game warden (Pitt) on the Siberian plain, who attempts to stop a tiger that's been attacking the local townspeople encroaching on its habitat.
Pitt's Plan B and Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures are producing the movie, which has been set up at Focus Features. Guillermo Arriaga (Babel) has been hired to write the screenplay, his first adaptation. Arriaga cited the subject matter and the creative team involved with the project as reasons for wanting to write the adaptation.
I chose to adapt this story, first, because I have a profound love for the outdoors and the intense tension between man and nature which the book reflects; and, second, because of the great privilege of working with such accomplished filmmakers as Darren Aronofsky, Brad Pitt, and James Schamus.
Schamus, a producer and screenwriter whose credits include The Hulk, Brokeback Mountain and Taking Woodstock, was not mentioned in the Variety article, so it's unclear what his involvement in The Tiger will be.
