Tommy Lee Jones Confirmed for Captain America by Hayley Atwell

Sometimes actors get excited and say more than they should. That's certainly the case for Hayley Atwell, who was interviewed on the red carpet by Leicester Square TV before the BAFTA Television Craft Awards and dropped some casting news for the upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America, in which Atwell will play Peggy Carter.
When asked about the cast, Atwell slipped and unofficially confirmed that Tommy Lee Jones had joined the cast.
I have yet to meet Tommy Lee Jones.... Although I think I have a scene with him, which I'm really looking forward to doing.
Reports about Jones' involvement began circulating in late April when UGO was told by a "source" that Jones was in negotiations to appear in the World War II-set Captain America in an unspecified role. The UGO report called it a rumor, with no official word coming from Marvel until Atwell's casual slip.
ComingSoon speculates that Jones will play General Chester Phillips, the man who picks Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) for the super-soldier program and helps train him to be Captain America.
Atwell may not have met Jones, but she has met with Evans and Sebastian Stan — who was cast as sidekick James "Bucky" Barnes — and attended a Iron Man 2 screening "just [to] get a sense of what Marvel is about." Atwell admitted her nerves caused her to be "sick the morning of [her] final screen test," but is now hard at work.
I'm training at the moment, six days a week to make her a little more military, and [to] make it convincing that I could kick butt. But it's great fun and I'm really looking forward to doing it.
Meanwhile Marvel will work on officially announcing Jones.
The First Avenger: Captain America is scheduled to open on July 22, 2011, and starts production in July. Originally set to be produced in Los Angeles, financial incentives convinced Marvel and Disney to move the entire production to London, England, where the movie is partially set.
