New Resident Evil: Afterlife Poster, Images, and Secrets Revealed
06.02.10 by Ryan
Some recent photos of Resident Evil: Afterlife showed Milla Jovovich with actual zombies behind her, a rarity for a movie franchise born from a zombie-shooting video game. With Jovovich clearly the face of the franchise, it's no surprise that she would be the focus of the upcoming sequel's first teaser poster.
The latest photos, however, keep the focus on Ali Larter and Wentworth Miller posing, respectively, as game characters Claire and Chris Redfield. Miller and Larter were also the subjects of previously released photos, making it apparent that Sony Screen Gems is trying to keep some of the movie's surprises from getting loose prematurely. However, one of those surprises simply couldn't be kept secret.
Jovovich's franchise character, Alice, isn't from the games, a point of contention initially amongst Resident Evil fans, who have, nonetheless, embraced Jovovich's presence in the franchise, by rewarding each sequel with increasing box office success. In kind, the actress has tried to pay back that support by using her Twitter to update fans about the movie during its production. Jovovich used her latest Tweet to let fans know that another video game character was Sienna Guillory is back as Jill Valentine in RE4!!!
Guillory appeared as Valentine in the first sequel, 2004's Resident Evil: Apocalypse, but did not return for 2007's Resident Evil: Extinction. The actress appeared in a few leaked photos that found their way online last week, but no confirmation had been given until now. Likely, this is not the way writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson and Sony wanted fans to discover Valentine's return.
