More X-Men: First Class Rumors: Rosamund Pike to Play Emma Frost

Casting rumors won't stop for director Matthew Vaughn's upcoming X-Men: First Class, the prequel to the original X-Men trilogy. Kick-Ass actor Aaron Johnson has been rumored for the role of Cyclops (James Marsden in the X-Men trilogy and Tim Pocock in X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Michael Fassbender is reportedly up for the role of the young Magneto (originally portrayed by Sir Ian McKellan).
Forces of Geek reports that Rosamund Pike (An Education, Die Another Day) could be up for the role of Emma Frost in First Class, after a source told the site that Pike was seen in the office of Vaughn's Kick-Ass casting director Lucinda Syson carrying a copy of Marvel's recently released comic X-Men Origins: Emma Frost.
In the comics, Emma Frost is not an original member of the X-Men but instead began as an X-Men villain known as the White Queen. She eventually joined the X-Men team. Pike certainly looks the part of the blonde telepath, who is also able to transform her skin into diamond material (ah, comic books), and is the winner of at least one fan casting poll. The character already appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by actress Tahyna Tozzi.
Only one casting announcement is for sure: James McAvoy has been cast as Professor X, the character originally portrayed by Sir Patrick Stewart. First Class will start production later this summer in London and is scheduled for a June 3rd, 2011, release date.
