The A-Team Reviews: Rent the Old Shows on DVD
06.10.10 by REELZ
The strong cast and fun trailer had us really looking forward to The A-Team. So far, some critics are having fun labeling it the D or D- Team. Turns out you need a script, or your movie will end up like Transformers 2.
"...works moderately well as the equivalent of a mindless B-movie..."
— Brian Lowry, Variety
"The A-Team is an incomprehensible mess with the 1980s TV show embedded inside."
— Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
"...a soulless, sloppy, smirky rerun..."
— Robert Wilonsky, Village Voice
"If the television version of The A-Team attracted a wide audience of all ages drawn in by the group's ingenuity and the program's low-key vibe, then [director] Carnahan's big-budget rethink is strictly for little boys."
— Andrew Schenker, Slant Magazine
"The film lurches from one action sequence to another, with little connection between the sequences. The characters move directly from small to big screen with new actors, of course, but little else changed including their famous catchphrases. So the screenwriting as such has been reduced to storyboards, stunt rigging and visual effects."
— Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter
