Dinner for Schmucks Pushed to July 30 Release

Paramount had their upcoming Dinner for Schmucks set for a July 23rd release, next to the Angelina Jolie action movie Salt, the Beverly Cleary kids novel adaptation of Ramona and Beezus, and the second week of Christopher Nolan's Inception. Apparently Paramount now thinks that weekend is too competitive. Instead, Deadline reports, Schmucks has been moved to July 30, just a week later, where its biggest competition will be Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore 3D (plus, it won't be up against Ramona and Beezus anymore, right?).
Schmucks stars Paul Rudd as a rising young executive who is asked by his boss to bring the stupidest person he knows (Steve Carell) to a dinner party. The trailer didn't exactly impress, which is why Schmucks is hovering in the middle of our Best Summer Comedies list. Another week is at least 7 more days Paramount has to try and impress audiences that they should see Schmucks instead of the other, July-opening, Steve Carrell movie, Despicable Me.
