Tom Cruise on Cameron Diaz and Their Knight and Day Motorcycle Stunt with New Stills and Video Clip

Tom Cruise is finally back in action in director James Mangold's latest movie, Knight and Day, after last appearing on the big screen in Valkyrie in 2008. In Knight and Day, Cruise plays Miller, a secret agent on a globe-trotting secret mission, who ends up taking the unassuming June (played by Cameron Diaz) along for the ride, literally.
In what's likely to be one of the more memorable sequences of the movie, Cruise and Diaz ride face-to-face on a motorcycle, zig-zagging through narrow streets, while Diaz blasts away at their pursuers with two pistols. Cruise discussed the sequence in a recent interview and it is also the subject of two new stills — along with some gratuitious eye candy for men and women alike — and a new extended clip of the movie.
Cruise told AccessHollywood that the dangerous, break-neck motorcycle sequence was actually his idea.
I called [Director James Mangold] and I said, 'Look, I’ve got this stunt. It's this motorcycle stunt... We've gotta put a motorcycle in this scene and I’ve gotta flip her around this thing. I called Cameron and said, 'Are you up for it?' She came out. We practiced it and stuff and Jim shot it. I couldn’t wait to do that!
Cruise went on to say that he knew Diaz would be physically up to the challenge of the scene.
She's strong enough. The great thing about Cameron is she’s enormously talented, funny and athletic. There's a lot of trust because she had full flash blanks in the gun as she's going around [me], they're coming past my head and she was always — you have to be there with someone and really know that they’re gonna be there.
Knight and Day also stars Peter Sarsgaard and Maggie Grace.
