Robert Rodriguez Explains the "Missing" Shot from the Predators Trailer
07.13.10 by Ryan
The trailers for producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimród Antal's Predators usually carries with them a shot of Adrien Brody being slowly covered by the triangular-shaped laser sights of the Predators' weaponry. Those that saw the movie last weekend may have noticed that the shot is different in the movie than the trailer (Brody only gets one target on his chest in the actual movie). Rodriguez spoke to MTV and explained the controversy.
Rodriguez claims that "sometimes a trailer is like a poster" and that shots need to be changed to help market the movie. He said it isn't the first time he's tricked his audience with a trailer shot.
A lot of my movies have trailer shots that I shoot just for the trailer, so that people haven't seen the movie already but they get the feeling of what it's supposed to represent.
For those that worry they would be cheated out of seeing multiple Predators preying on one target, fear not. Rodriguez says a moment like that does exist, just not like how it plays out in the trailer.
There's a version of that in a later scene where they're running and there's multiple lasers chasing them all... It's kind of a good twist to do that.
