Roger Corman Is the Sharktopus
07.16.10 by Jud
At more than 300 movies and counting, Roger Corman has gotten his tentacles on a vast portion of Hollywood. Now the "B-Movie King," who's directed and produced some of your favorite cult classics (Death Race 2000 and the original Piranha, to name only two), has a new gem coming to SyFy. Sharktopus has all the blood and bikinis you've come to expect from the "Roger Corman Film Factory," and we've got the trailer.
The movie stars Eric Roberts (in what can only be another mutant-hybrid offshoot of the Oscar-winning actor's career) as the creator of the giant shark-slash-octopus (Sharktopus, get it?) that's designed to help the military win the fight against Somali pirates. Uncontrollable, the voracious predator terrorizes and largely devours many an oceanside dweller.
Based on the trailer, this is a must-see creature-feature — we'll let you know when Syfy announces a premiere date — and we're already hoping it leads to a Sharktopus vs. Dinoshark sequel. For now, though, pass the popcorn, put on your favorite kaiju T-shirt, and enjoy the red band trailer below.
