Simon Pegg to Return for Another Mission: Impossible
07.19.10 by Ryan
Simon Pegg injected some much-needed humor into Mission: Impossible III as computer geek Benji Dunn. Pegg continued to work with director J.J. Abrams in Star Trek, and will continue his association with Abrams in Mission: Impossible 4.
According to THR, Pegg is in negotiations to reprise his MI:3 role in MI:4, which Brad Bird is directing and Abrams is producing. Pegg's return could mean positive things for the sequel, which has been rumored to be undergoing a rewrite after the lackluster box office of Tom Cruise's latest movie, Knight and Day. The rewrite may require screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec to include a younger operative for Cruise to mentor. We're not expecting Pegg to be this younger mentor, though the prospect does sound, to borrow Pegg's "Scotty" voice for a moment, "exciting."
MI:4 opens December 16, 2011, and will also likely see the return of Ving Rhames as tech-savvy agent Luther Stickell.
