Star Trek 2 to Start Production in January?

After Star Trek debuted to $385 million in worldwide box office, the question asked of anyone associated with the project has been, "When is the sequel?" Screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci mentioned at the end of June that they were planning to meet with co-screenwriter Damon Lindelof to finish work on the screenplay that was "halfway" complete. Actress Zoe Saldana said in April that she thought shooting might start "early next year", and if the latest confirmation is true, Saldana was right.
Hollywood.com spoke to Bruce Greenwood (who played Captain Pike in Star Trek) at the Dinner for Schmucks premiere, and the actor claims that the movie will start production next year.
I just know that the plan is to film it in January, more than that, I don't know.
Greenwood wasn't even sure if he would be returning for the sequel, saying he was "hustling" for his character to come back. Paramount has already scheduled a release date for Star Trek 2, which will open June 29, 2012, and a January start would certainly keep the movie on schedule. Director J.J. Abrams is planning a fall shoot for his upcoming Super 8, which means he could be available for a January production start.
