Nick Cave to Rewrite Stephen Norrington's The Crow Script

There's been scant little news about writer-director Stephen Norrington's planned new live-action feature based on The Crow comic book created by James O'Barr since it was first announced back in December 2008. Edward R. Pressman, who produced The Crow (1994) and its three sequels, is also producing the as-yet-untitled new Crow movie and said last month that Norrington had completed a "terrific" script for the movie and that an offer had gone out to a "major actor" for the lead role. Apparently, Norrington's script wasn't as polished as Pressman originally let on, because TheWrap has just reported that musician and screenwriter Nick Cave has been brought in to do script rewrites.
Pressman also revealed to TheWrap that an announcement should be forthcoming about the actor who will play the lead role of Eric Draven, the character from the original comic book series. Draven is the protagonist of the first The Crow movie who was resurrected by a mystical crow to seek vengeance upon those responsible for his death. The article goes on to say that the mystical bird will play a more prominent role in the new movie than it has in the previous movies.
In February, Norrington said that he was hoping for a summer start of production on The Crow, but it appears that is unlikely with Cave coming in to retool the script. Norrington had also planned to shoot the WWII supernatural movie The Lost Patrol before shooting The Crow, but there has been nothing more heard about that project in the intervening months.
