Sam Rockwell Discusses His Cowboys and Aliens Character, Oliva Wilde Updates Her Nude Scene

Sam Rockwell got his opportunity to continue his bromance with director Jon Favreau after being cast two months ago in Cowboys and Aliens as Doc, a bar owner who joins a fight against an alien invasion in 1800s Arizona. Rockwell enjoyed a good deal of scene-stealing as industrialist, and Tony Stark rival, Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2, but Rockwell told Movieline that his role in Cowboys and Aliens is "a different kind of character."
Well, he’s kind of an everyman. He’s much more of a Jimmy Stewart kind of guy than I’ve probably played before. He’s a very earnest ex-doctor and saloon owner, and his wife gets kidnapped by aliens and he has to go and cowboy up with the rest of the team and go after them. He has to get his wife back.
Rockwell said that he and "Fav" are also planning a different look than the slickly dressed, tan-palmed Hammer. "The look is kind of like John Lennon, but nerdy," said Rockwell. "Like little glasses,Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club John Lennon. But he’s a good person and a good man."
The Sci-fi/Western hybrid of Cowboys and Aliens looks to be filled with surprises, not the least of which is the appearance of the aliens. Rockwell admitted that he has not seen what the aliens look like yet, but he has seen their teeth, saying: "it’s not pretty. They are not E.T.."
Another surprise is the news of a nude scene for Olivia Wilde. Wilde and co-star Adam Beach discussed the scene with a Canadian newspaper, with Wilde confirming that she was "naked in front of a group of a couple hundred Apache." Wilde took to her Twitter account to inform fans that she didn't mean she was naked naked.
don't want to disappoint, but my "nude" scene in Cowboys & Aliens is very PG13. I was in a bikini but we'll make it look as naked as we can. it's all about what you don't see (wink face emoticon)
Cowboys and Aliens is based on the graphic novel created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Paul Dano, and, of course, Wilde and Rockwell. "Fav" is currently directing the movie from a screenplay written by Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof, and Roberto Orci.
