New from Scott Pilgrim: Fictional Movie Posters and Interactive Trailer
08.07.10 by Ryan
To coincide with Scott Pilgrim vs. The World's upcoming August 13 release, Universal has released a variety promotional items for the movie, which stars Michael Cera as a slacker musician who falls for the woman of his dreams (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) but must defeat her 7 "evil" exes in order to date her. The second "evil ex" is Lucas Lee (Chris Evans), a former pro-skater-turned-movie star, and a portion of the battle between Cera and Evans (and his many stunt doubles) was documented in a clip of the movie released in June. A variety of fake movie posters featuring Evans as Lee have been released, including Let's Hope There's a Heaven which reads "Kiss me. I'm dying." Then there's Action Doctor which reads "The good news is you're going to live. The bad news is he's going to kill you!"
Edgar Wright responded to the posters' release via his Twitter page.
Start the rumour. ACTION DOCTOR will be my next project.
The other latest promotional item, a new, interactive trailer that looks like the pixelated title screen to a Super Nintendo console game, highlights the movie's video game references. The trailer doesn't have any new footage, but allows the viewer to click on the screen to learn more about the movie and features an introduction by Wright. Watch it below and enjoy.
