January Jones, Not Alice Eve, Playing Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class

For several months now, it's been assumed that actress Alice Eve had landed the role of Emma Frost in Fox's prequel to its X-Men movie franchise, X-Men: First Class, but apparently negotiations for the role failed to pan out for Eve. According to Deadline, January Jones has signed on to play the beautiful telepath with the ability to turn her skin into diamonds in First Class.
In the Marvel Comic books on which First Class is based, Emma Frost began as the supervillain the White Queen of the Hellfire Club, a secret society of extremely wealthy mutants whose goal was to rule the world. Frost eventually fell out with the Hellfire Club and is now one of the leaders of the X-Men, as well as the lover and confidante of team leader Scott Summers, aka Cyclops. Emma Frost did not appear in the three X-Men movies, but the character (played by Tahyna Tozzi) did appear briefly at the end of the X-Men spin-off movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, as one of the young mutants freed by Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).
X-Men: First Class is expected to go into production within the next three weeks under the direction of Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass). Bryan Singer, the director of X-Men and X2: X-Men United, is producing, along with Lauren Shuler Donner and Tarquin Pack.
