Ving Rhames Compares Zombies to the Watery Menace of Piranha 3D

While Elisabeth Shue seems a curious choice to play the lead role in a movie called Piranha 3-D, Ving Rhames is no stranger to fighting unusual opponents. Whether they're weird dudes dressed head-to-toe in leather, or zombie hordes running through a mall, Rhames like to go all medieval on them. In Piranha 3D, Rhames plays the deputy to Shue's sheriff in a lakeside town that comes under attack by a swarm of prehistoric piranha. Rhames described the movie to Black Voices as "fun, scary, [and] entertaining" which was part of the reason he agreed to appear in the movie.
It was fun and it was my first 3-D movie. My children are young and I can explain some things to them, but I think I can possibly allow my kids to actually see it. I don't get to do too many films that aren't R-rated and that was one of the reasons. Plus, the film has a very good cast, including Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd and Elizabeth Shue. I saw the director's (Alexandre Aja) reel of his work, and he did The Hills Have Eyes remake. I thought he could do his thing with this film and decided to it.
So after facing the undead (twice) and piranhas (once), which creature does Rhames think is the easier enemy?
: I'd say zombies. With Dawn of the Dead, everyone is on foot and no one is in the water. The water gives piranha an advantage.
Really, Ving? the zombies were literally crawling on the ceiling in 2008's Day of the Dead remake. We'll have to wait and see Piranha 3D on August 20 to see for ourselves, though the movie is generating some Oscar buzz.
