Stephen Lang Confirms Magical Elements in Conan Reboot

Ever since principal photography on director Marcus Nispel's Conan (working title) reboot wrapped in Bulgaria, title star Jason Momoa has been missing in action. Fortunately, Stephen Lang, who starred opposite Momoa as the lead antagonist, Khalar Singh, has been keeping a higher profile and appears to be eager to talk about the movie. Last month, Lang revealed that he was attracted to the movie because he found the script to be "very true" to the works of Conan creator Robert E. Howard. Now, Lang has revealed to MTV that magic, an essential element in all of Howard’s Conan stories, will be prevalent in the movie.
If you read Robert Howard—of course, the Conan stories and novellas—magic, supernatural plays a huge, huge part in them: there are fakirs and magicians and wizards all over the place. So magic is part of that world. The magic in this film, there's a lot of it and there's a lot of action-magic as well, a lot of fighting, magical fighting, and stuff. But, with all of that, there's a low-tech element to this film that I think is just terrific. When you get right down to it, it's people banging away with these swords.
No release date has been set for Conan as of yet, but it is expected to debut in 2011. Ron Perlman, Bob Sapp, Leo Howard, Rachel Nichols, and Rose McGowan also star.
