Screenwriter Marc Guggenheim Updates Green Lantern 2 and The Flash

Green Lantern won't open until next summer, but Warner Bros. is already working on a sequel, hiring screenwriter Michael Goldenberg to draft a script from a treatment by Green Lantern writers Marc Guggenheim, Greg Berlanti, and Michael Green. Reports of a third Green Lantern movie also surfaced, to be possibly shot back-to-back with Green Lantern 2. In a recent interview with Newsarama, Guggenheim dispelled the rumor of a third Green Lantern movie.
I think where that came out of was, when Greg Berlanti originally pitched the movie to Warner Bros., he pitched three movies. So there's always been, and he's said this publicly, that there's always been enough story for a trilogy. The scope of the character and the character's world requires that. But we're really just focusing on the treatment for Green Lantern 2, and I know that everyone involved in the production of the movie is just focusing on completing the first film.
While Guggenheim, Berlanti and Green are only writing a treatment for Green Lantern 2, the writers are also responsible for writing the treatment and script for another DC Entertainment character, The Flash. Guggenheim said the trio aren't working on a Flash sequel just yet, though he isn't against the idea.
I think it's very hard to talk about these characters in a closed-ended, sort of non-sequel way, especially characters like The Flash and Green Lantern, which have such rich, long histories... It's very much one step at a time for The Flash, but it's terrific that people are talking along these lines. I think that talk really comes out of the great amount of faith and the movie and the optimistic feeling about it.
Guggenheim revealed that he "can't confirm" whether Green Lantern will appear in The Flash, mirroring the way Marvel Studios has been lining up their characters for The Avengers.
I have all sorts of my own ideas and things I would like to see or like to do. And I'm certainly a voice in favor of cameos and Easter eggs and trying to tie the movies together, but you really have to talk to DC about that.
