Liam Neeson Will Sink Your Battleship Then Fight Off Wolves

THR reports that Liam Neeson is the latest actor to join Universal's adaptation of the Milton-Bradley board game, Battleship. Directed by Peter Berg (The Kingdom) Battleship will concern an international naval fleet that is tasked with confronting an alien invasion. Such a plot seems far afield from the board game where random combinations of letters and numbers help to blindly sink an opponents piece.
Neeson joins Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch in the Battleship cast as Admiral Shane, the future father-in-law of Kitsch and father to model-slash-actress Brooklyn Decker. Rihanna was also cast as a weapons analyst.
Screenwriters Jon and Erich Hoeber (Whiteout) were responsible for the movie's script, which was revised by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Rounders).
The Battleship role is the second role Neeson has lined up this month, having agreed to reunite with The A-Team director Joe Carnahan on the survival-thriller The Grey, which will see Neeson take over for Bradley Cooper as the leader of a oil-drilling team who find themselves struggling to survive in the wild after being targeted by a pack of wolves. The Grey has no release date currently, and may go into production after Battleship.
