Legend of the Guardians: The Owls Of Ga'Hoole Reviews

Zack Snyder, the director of 300 and Watchmen, was certainly a surprising choice to bring an owl fantasy to the big screen, but he's done it, and apparently done it pretty well.
"...a delightfully immersive CG fantasy from the animators of Happy Feet."
— Jeff Labrecque, Entertainment Weekly
"...the film's aesthetically stunning, muscular action and celebration of the natural world's fantastic majesty proves an ideal showcase for the 300 and Watchmen auteur's (Snyder) trademark stop-and-count-the-feathers slow-motion."
— Nick Schager, Village Voice
"A classy cast and stunning visuals compensate for a pedestrian script."
— Stephen Farber, Hollywood Reporter
"...a movie at odds with itself. On the one hand, it inspires awe with its visionary aesthetic achievements. On the other, it's the same old hero hokum. While the former finally wins out, the latter makes the victory bittersweet indeed."
— Bill Gibron, filmcritic.com
"Though visually stunning and blessed with immaculate 3D work, film is fatally bogged down by tackling an essentially ridiculous premise (gladiator-attired owls fight genocide) with stony solemnity, and by subsisting on a note of sustained menace and terror in what is ostensibly a children's film."
— Andrew Barker, Variety
