Three New Mini-Clips from Paranormal Activity 2
Posted 09.26.10 by BrentJS
The undisputed master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, once said, "There is no terror in the bang, only in the anticipation of it." Most modern filmmakers seem to have forgotten this little bit of wisdom, instead trading in slowly mounting tension for in-your-face shock and awe. Whether because he was an adherent of Hitchcock's adage or simply because his minuscule budget for Paranormal Activity wouldn't allow him to reveal too much, writer-director Oren Peli's homemade horror movie scared the pants off of millions of fans by saving the big reveal until the very end of the movie.
Anticipation for director Tod "Kip" Williams' sequel, Paranormal Activity 2, is running extremely high as the Halloween horror movie season draws nearer and the studio's promotional campaign seems to be emulating Peli's Hitchcock-esque approach, releasing three mini-clips of the movie that reveal ... almost nothing. The only thing apparent from these clips is that we can expect more grainy camera work intercut with smash cuts of disturbing imagery, and that a baby and a dog are now part of the home haunting scenario.
