Three More Actresses to Contend for Spider-Man Love-Interest Role

Add two more names to the growing list of potential love interests for Sony's upcoming reboot of Spider-Man. Several contenders for the role were revealed in August, which was trimmed down last week to Lily Collins (The Blind Side) and Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer's Apprentice), while adding two more actresses into the mix, Emma Stone and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland).
Deadline reports that Sony is adding three more names to the list: Dianna Agron (TV's Glee, the upcoming I Am Number Four), Dominique McElligott (Moon) and Georgina Haig (Roadkill). The report states that Agron has already tested for the role, but may be too busy with her TV show to fit Spider-Man into her schedule. According to the report, only Stone and Wasikowska remain from the previous contenders.
Also revealed in the report is that the two love interest roles in the movie will be Gwen Stacy (played by Bryce Dallas Howard in Spider-Man 3) and Mary Jane Watson (played by Kirsten Dunst in the previous Spider-Man movies). Previous reports stated that the love interest role would not be Mary Jane but remained unspecified.
What is known for sure is that Marc Webb will be directing Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker in the Spider-Man reboot starting this December. The love interest role should be sorted shortly, and then speculation will turn towards the villain role. For those curious about who will play the villain, the Deadline report included a rumor that should stir up interest.
Early unconfirmed talk: they want to bring back Venom and they are looking at Philip Seymour Hoffman.
For obvious reasons, Venom didn't make our earlier list of Top 10 Spider-Man 4 Villain Candidates. The untitled Spider-Man reboot opens July 3, 2012.
