Adrien Brody Unsure if He's in the Running for Ant-Man or Not

Weeks before the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, dozens of rumors began circulating about which actors would be cast in which superhero roles. Would Edward Norton be back as the Hulk? (No, that went to Mark Ruffalo). Is Jeremy Renner in talks to play Hawkeye in The Avengers? (Yes, that turned out to be true). Is Nathan Fillion up for the title role in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man adaptation? (No, he's too busy and would rather play The Greatest American Hero).
Another rumor about the Ant-Man movie that was circulating at that time had Adrien Brody's reps pursuing the role of Ant-Man for him, but there was never anything more heard about it until now. During an interview with ScreenRant at this past weekend's New York Comic Con, Brody was asked whether his reps were still going after the role and he seemed surprisingly in the dark about the matter.
I haven’t been involved in any of those discussions—I have mentioned it to my reps who have been kind of covert about their response as well, which is very strange to me. I said, 'Is there any validity to this, what is this?' and they said, 'Well…it’s too early to say.' It was very strange and I kind of dropped it at that… Not everything that is bandied around the Internet is factual, but sometimes there are elements that do stem from truth that people who are in the middle of it aren’t aware of either. We’ll see.
Brody did add that he is "enthusiastic" about the movie and said that he would consider playing Ant-Man if he felt that the role would help him progress as an actor.
The key is to constantly push the boundaries and to find things that allow me to be creative and do things that, you know, I enjoy and grow from.
The latest update on the Ant-Man movie had Wright working on the script, with Marvel President of Production Kevin Feige estimating an "end of this year, early next year" start of pre-production. Though Ant-Man is a founding member of The Avengers, Wright has confirmed that Ant-Man will not be a part of The Avengers movie continuity.
