Scarlett Johansson and Bradley Cooper for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?

Looks like the adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies may have some life left. After writer-director David O. Russell decided to quit the project, star Natalie Portman quickly followed suit, leaving the promising project, based on author Seth Grahame-Smith's successful mashup novel that combined zombies and Jane Austen's classic, completely empty. That may have all changed.
Deadline reports that after Portman left the project, Russell had set up Scarlett Johansson to take over the Portman's role of Elizabeth Bennett and had Bradley Cooper ready to play Mr. Darcy. Presumably Russell did this before finally walking out on the movie.
Lionsgate will not confirm the actors and is also looking for a replacement for Russell. According to the report, Russell's script is so strong that several directors are interested. While the report claims that Mike Newell (Price of Persia: The Sands of Time) is at the top of the list, it also lists David Slade (30 Days of Night, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) and Neil Marshall (Centurion) as possible contenders. Slade was recently in the running for the Wolverine 2 job.
While the potential actors and directors could all turn out be rumors, zombie fans have to be happy that the movie could be back on track.
