Liam Neeson to Replace Mel Gibson in The Hangover 2
10.22.10 by Ryan
For about a day, Mel Gibson was set for a cameo in director Todd Phillips' upcoming The Hangover 2 as a Bangkok tattoo artist. The casting drew an internal backlash, which led to Gibson's dismissal. But it looks like the role of the tattoo artist will remain, even as Gibson exits the project.
THR reports that Liam Neeson will take over for Gibson in a role described as "crazy" and "intense" and "someone you're afraid to talk to." Reportedly, Neeson's The A-Team co-star Bradley Cooper was "instrumental" in persuading Neeson to accept the role.
The Hangover 2 shifts the memory-dodging action from Las Vegas to Thailand, with Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, and Mr. Chow's [Ken Jeong] returning for more. The sequel opens May 26, 2011.
