Darren Aronofsky Reveals Official Title of X-Men Origins: Wolverine Sequel

Considering what a mouthful the title to Wolverine's first solo movie is, it's no surprise that Fox decided to go with something a bit shorter with its follow-up to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. In a recent interview with HitFix to discuss his new movie, Black Swan, director Darren Aronofsky revealed that the title to his movie about Marvel's feral little mutant with adamantium claws would drop its connection to the X-Men and eschew placing a "2" in the title and simply be called The Wolverine. Aronofsky also explained that the movie is a "one-off" and not a sequel in the traditional sense.
Hugh Jackman will once again reprise the role of Logan, aka Weapon X, aka Wolverine, in The Wolverine. The script is by Christopher McQuarrie and took inspiration from the classic Wolverine mini-series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller (300, Sin City), which took Wolverine to Japan, where he was forced to fight ninjas and samurais for the right to be with the woman he loves. The movie is expected to go into production in March 2011 in New York before moving to Japan.
