Series star Tom Cruise recently teased that he would be "spending many days, many hours on the side" of the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai, the world's tallest building at 2,717 feet tall, for his new movie, Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol, but he wouldn't elaborate on just exactly what he would be doing up there. Now, thanks to a new "spy" video shot from the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa, we have our first look at Cruise's latest daredevil movie stunt.
For the first half of the video, Cruise seems to be just trying to get a good grip on the building. When he discovers that he is being observed from the observation deck, he flashes that characteristic toothy grin and waves to the camera (1:38) before leaping off (2:33) and doing a graceful backwards spin in mid-air. He then scrambles back up to the corner and does it again. Whether you love him or you hate him, you have to admit that there are few Hollywood leading man with the guts and determination to perform their own stunts the way Cruise does.
Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol is being produced by J.J. Abrams, the director of Mission: Impossible III, with Brad Bird (The Incredibles) at the helm. Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Josh Holloway also star.
