Production on director Matthew Vaughn's X-Men prequel, X-Men: First Class began in September, and the first set photos popped up a week later. With shooting going on for two months now, a new actor has been added to the large ensemble cast. Ray Wise, best known for playing Leland Palmer on the TV show Twin Peaks and the 1992 movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, told IGN that he has been cast in the comic book adaptation.
I'm playing the Secretary of State of the United States. I'll be going over there in the next couple of weeks. I love Matthew. And Bryan Singer's producing it and [it's got] a great cast — James McAvoy, January Jones, Oliver Platt.
Whether Wise has scenes with McAvoy, Jones, or Platt is unknown. Platt, cast as "The Man in Black" in August, could be a candidate to appear with Wise's character, since Platt's mysterious character is one of the few announced, besides Wise, that is reportedly not a mutant.
Wise says his character may be involved with some of the scenes involving special effects. "Well, I think I touch on them, yeah, a bit," said Wise.
