James Bond 23 Moving Forward with Director Sam Mendes

For a while there, things looked bleak for James Bond 23, the working title for the follow-up to 2008's Quantum of Solace. With Daniel Craig ready for this third turn as the British secret agent and Sam Mendes set to direct, MGM canceled development on the sequel while it tended to its severe financial troubles. The studio eventually filed for bankruptcy and now that its bankruptcy and restructuring plan has been approved, it looks like Bond 23 is heading toward its November 2012 release date. First, David Arnold, music composer for the last few Bond movies confirmed to Film Music Magazine that he will soon have to write music for the next Bond.
I haven't thought about it yet. We only just got the news that we're back on. But "there’s many a slip twixt cup and lip" so I will keep quiet until I get a script and then start writing ideas. I just hope the next one is as good as my favorites, as I think everyone does.
Then, Mendes' estranged wife Kate Winslet confirmed to The Daily Mail that the director will resume working on the movie. Despite their separation, Winslet and their two kids will move back to London for the production.
Sam is doing the next Bond film, all being well, and we’ll all be in England if that happens. It’s such a massive commitment for him and it’s not fair for him to commute backwards and forwards to New York from London.
Reportedly, Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli have already had "many meetings over casting," with actor Simon Russell Beale possibly being considered for an unspecified role. According to the report, shooting will begin sometime toward the end of next year.
