No Two-Face in The Dark Knight Rises

Director Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas, Nolan's wife and producing partner, both recently denied rumors they would be using "fragments of cut scenes" and CGI to bring a Heath Ledger cameo into The Dark Knight Rises, the sequel to 2008's The Dark Knight. Rumors still persist that Aaron Eckhart could return as Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face. While Eckhart said in September of 2009 that he would return if Nolan asked, he recently revealed that he's content to sit out the sequel. Looks like he'll have to be.
In an interview with MTV, Eckhart said that Nolan has told the actor that Harvey Dent will not return in The Dark Knight Rises.
Chris and I had a meeting, on the beach, just the two of us. I said, "Chris, a lot of people are asking me if I'm in the next Batman." And Chris said, "Yes?" I said, "Am I?" He looked at me and he said, "No." It's even weirder than I'm explaining it. We found ourselves alone on the beach together on a stormy day and he delivered the news to me. I was heartbroken. But Chris has his reasons and my life must go on.
Eckhart says that The Dark Knight Rises was really "Heath's movie to go on" though, sadly, the actor's passing will prevent the character's return. However, Eckhart says that Nolan "has got something in store that is going to blow everybody away."
The Dark Knight Rises starts production in May 2011
