The Warrior's Way Reviews

For our Holiday Movie Guide here's what we said about The Warrior's Way: "Promoted as 'from the producers of Lord of the Rings' and 'starring international superstar Jang Dong-gun' (who we've never heard of before), this pic takes the award for most interesting mash-up, blending western and samurai with action and romance. It will likely be either brilliant or unwatchable (with the exception of Kate Bosworth)." It was not screened for critics. Here's what they said on Friday afternoon.
"...a visually inspired multi-genre amalgamation, a borderline-surreal folly that suggests a martial-arts action-adventure co-directed by Sergio Leone and Federico Fellini."
— Joe Leydon, Variety
"One ticket buys you cowboys, samurais, gangsters, ninjas, spaghetti Westerns, Hong Kong martial artists, knife throwers and even Fellini-esque circus performers. But like kimchi pasta, some things aren't meant to mix."
— Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter
"...a genre mash-up that never quite achieves 'so very bad it's good' status."
— Roger Moore, Chicago Tribune
"...with so many borrowed bits and pieces, the only feeling it successfully evokes is déjà vu."
— Adam Markovitz, Entertainment Weekly
"...a Gigli-level, what-were-they-thinking disaster that may nonetheless find a cult following among lovers of magnificent misfires."
— Luke Y. Thompson, E! Online
"...a thin and unconvincing gruel of western clichés, martial arts action and forced comedy..."
— Mike Hale, New York Times
