Relativity Media is taking the viral route with its first promotional effort for Limitless (formerly The Dark Fields), an upcoming sci-fi thriller directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist). Based on the novel by Alan Glynn, the movie stars Bradley Cooper as a down-on-his luck writer whose entire life turns around after he gets his hands on a top-secret designer drug that makes him smarter, faster, stronger and more charismatic.
To promote the movie, a new viral video has appeared on YouTube that has Cooper playing a corporate spokesman in a commerical for NZT, the designer drug his character takes in the movie. It's convincing as a commercial — some viewers even commented on the video as if it were a real commercial and not a promo for a movie — and the listed side effects might actually be a clue of sorts to the movie's plot.
Side effects may include paralysis, psychosis, amnesia, extreme sexual appetite, brain damage, irreversible coma, homicidal blackouts, and sudden death.... NZT should be taken once a day. Discontinued use will result in death.
(If you call the number listed in the commercial, a portion of Cooper's recorded audio will play and then you will be told to watch Limitless to learn more about NZT.)
Limitless was written by Leslie Dixon (The Heartbreak Kid) and also stars Robert DeNiro, Abbie Cornish, and
