It would be difficult to think of another actress (or actor) that's been involved in more movie franchises than Sigourney Weaver. The actress has the Ghostbusters, Aliens and now Avatar franchises on her resume.
Weaver talked to EW.com about the future of those franchises while promoting the DVD release of her movie Prayers for Bobby.
In the interview, Weaver said even though her character Grace was killed, she said she wouldn't write her off from being included in the planned Avatar trilogy.
I wouldn’t use that word [killed] — she was changed. You know, it’s science fiction, so we saw something happen to her, and we don’t quite know what it is. She definitely went into the Tree of Souls, right? It’s science fiction. What looks like death, who knows? I think Jim is just starting to write [the sequels] now.
Her character Dana Barrett in Ghostbusters definitely wasn't killed off or "changed." Weaver said she was open to doing a third movie if her son in the movie, Oscar, could be a Ghostbuster. She told EW that when she saw Bill Murray at the Scream Awards, he told her he was going to do it.
I think no one's really read a script. But I've talked to Ivan Reitman. He definitely wants to do it.
But don't expect Weaver to reprise her role as Ripley. When asked if she was involved in Ridley Scott's Alien prequel
, the actress said: "Oh no, I'm not in any way involved, and I won't be."
In space, no one can hear you be recast.
