12.29.10 by Ryan
James Wan, the director of the original Saw, hadn't directed a movie since 2007's Death Sentence, but is making his return with the supernatural thriller Insidious, which premiered to positive reviews at the Toronto Film Festival in September. FilmDistrict has just received a release date for Insidious, which will open on April 1, 2011, next to the sci-fi thriller Source Code and the family comedy Hop.
Insidious was produced by Oren Peli, the writer and director of Paranormal Activity, and was written by Saw's Leigh Whannell. The movie stars Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne as parents of a son who are besieged by vengeful spirits after their son falls into a coma.
A trailer for Insidious has yet to be released online, but a clip from the movie can be seen here.
