Spider-Man Reboot Set Pics Show Andrew Garfield as a Smooth Peter Parker

The first set of pics from Sony's upcoming Spider-Man reboot showed actress Emma Stone in costume as Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker's (Andrew Garfield) love interest, while attending what appears to be a funeral.
The latest set pics are far less dramatic, as they show Garfield and Stone sitting on the bleachers, presumably, of the fictional Midtown High. The couple do share a kiss that doesn't require an upside-down, costumed Spider-Man and a heavy dose of rain, but does seem to suggest that the reboot's Peter Parker is a much smoother teenager than the "puny Parker" of the comic books and initial trilogy of movies.
Marc Webb directed the reboot, which heads back to Peter Parker's high school days. Rhys Ifans will play the villain of the movie, possibly Dr. Curt Connors, a.k.a. the Lizard (though Sony has yet to officially announce it); Martin Sheen is cast as Uncle Ben, whose tragic end is the basis for Parker's decision to become Spider-Man; and Denis Leary is police captain George Stacy, father of Gwen, whose own tragic ending may have been the subject of the funeral depicted in the previous set photos. Gwen is also a tragic figure in Peter Parker's life, but Stone recently admitted that she is set to star in "a few" Spider-Man movies, so it may be that Gwen makes it out of the Spider-Man reboot alive. We'll all find out for sure when the movie opens on July 3, 2012.
