Ghostbusters 3 Script Completed

Time to start up the Ecto-1.
Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two Ghostbusters, just made children of the 80s squeal when he announced a script for a third Ghostbusters was finished and has been sent to none other than Mr. Bill Murray himself.
The fact that a third Ghostbusters is the works isn't news but that fact that the script was just completed is. For the past few years, there have been rumors of Ghostbusters scripts circulating but it seems pretty solid now that it's coming from Reitman.
The director said "a very good script" has been sent to Murray.
Nothing you're read on the Internet is accurate. . . . It's good enough to do, to take the risk of doing again.
And a risk it would be. Lately, fans of nostalgic movie franchises have felt burn by the decision of filmmakers to revisit movies of our childhoods (looking at you Lucas and Spielberg for that mess called Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). At least one critic is questioning the decision to continue this 22-year-old franchise. But unlike the Indiana Jones franchise, the Ghostbusters movies didn't have an distinct end. The 1989 sequel was just another adventure and definitely didn't have the main characters riding off into the sunset.
Fans have to be comforted by the fact that the new movie is in the hands of the original filmmakers but that hinges on getting on original Ghostbusters to reprise their roles.

to come back as Dana Barrett.
There was a script that was being rewritten as of about a year ago. I said that I'll do it if Oscar, my little son [in the movie], can be a Ghostbuster, and I think Ivan Reitman liked that idea.
Reitman has not let his directing talent collect dust. His newest comedy No Strings Attached opens Jan. 21.
