New Shot of Spider-Man Reboot Costume Offers Clear Look at Mask and Web-Shooters

Comic book movie fans were excited when the first high-resolution still image of Andrew Garfield wearing a newly redesigned Spider-Man costume in director Marc Webb's Spider-Man franchise reboot was released last week, but the image left them with many questions. Like, what does the mask look like and what are those little silver discs on his wrists for? Could it be that Webb's Spider-Man will go back to having a mechanical device that produces his webs like in the comics, rather than the biologically-produced webs of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and its two sequels?
Thanks to Emma Stone, who plays Gwen Stacy, the high school girlfriend of Peter Paker, aka Spider-Man, we know that Spidey will be sporting mechanical web-shooters, but that still left the question of the mask. Some "spy pics" from the L.A. set recently appeared online, but they were too grainy to clearly make out much of anything. Now, however, MTV has provided a crisp clear image of Spidey in action and his mask and web-shooters can be seen in greater detail.
The script for Spider-Man (working title) was written by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and takes Peter Parker back to high school when he was first bitten by the radioactive spider that gave him his powers. From nerd to super-stud overnight, Parker must learn to deal with the responsibilities that come with his newfound powers while maintaining the appearance of normalcy so as not to attract too much attention.
Rhys Ifans, Campbell Scott, Annie Parisse, Julianne Nicholson, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, C. Thomas Howell and Chris Zylka also star.
