Judi Dench to Return for James Bond 23
01.28.11 by Ryan
The 23rd James Bond movie is now back on track, with a director (Sam Mendes), a lead actor (Daniel Craig) and a release date (Nov. 9, 2012). The movie has also been the subject of rumors including a rumored new title (Red Sky at Night? Really?), a rumored female villain (Rachel Weisz), and a rumored "good guy" formerly a possibly bad guy" (Simon Russell Beale) as well. Outside of Craig, the cast has received its first official member, Dame Judi Dench.
James Bond fansite MI6 reports Dench is returning as M, Bond's boss, which may not come as a huge surprise since Dench has played the role since 1995's Goldeneye. Dench confirmed her return while speaking to the media at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards, and admitted she was excited about the project.
Of course, I'm looking forward hugely to working with Daniel again and with Sam who I've only ever worked with in the theatre. So that'll be all good fun to do! I'm so glad it's coming back, it's wonderful.
As for what the next Bond movie might be about, Dench was not as forthcoming ""Nothing... my lips are sealed. I can't tell you anything at all!"
The script is being written by Bond veterans Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale) and John Logan (The Aviator).
