Ridley Scott's Prometheus Will Include Classic Aliens After All

When director Ridley Scott recently announced that his new sci-fi movie, long thought to be a prequel to the Alien franchise, would be called Prometheus and that it had "evolved" into "a new, grand mythology and universe," the implication was that the movie would not be connected to the Alien franchise. But, it appears as if Scott's statements might have been somewhat misleading. According to Sky, an "exclusive source" has revealed that the movie will have direct ties to Alien and that the classic xenomorphs designed by H.R. Giger will appear in the movie.
They’ve built the 'space jockey' cockpit at Pinewood as seen in the original Alien film, so it definitely takes place in the same world as Alien.
Despite that press release that seemed to indicate there were no aliens in the movie, the familiar HR Giger-style aliens do appear. Big ones apparently.
In his statement, Scott said that "keen fans will recognise strands of Alien’s DNA" in Prometheus. According to Sky's source, this statement is actually more literal than figurative as the plot of the movie revolves around the discovery of alien DNA.
Part of the film will be shot in Morocco. I’ve heard that some sort of archaeological dig where they discover alien DNA takes place there and that DNA gives them the coordinates for an alien world. I’ve also heard Morocco is being used for alien planet landscapes so I’m not sure if it’s an archaeological dig on another planet.
Sky's source also offered up this cool little tidbit about the movie:
The main spaceship in the film will be piloted by an enormous head which I assume will be CGI. Yep, sounds weird but I assume some of the technology will be sort of biomechanical.
Damon Lindelof (Cowboys and Aliens) wrote—with input from Scott—the screenplay for Prometheus based on an earlier script written by Jon Spaihts. Swedish actress Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is confirmed to star as a scientist named Elizabeth Shaw, with Michael Fassbender rumored to be joining the cast as an android named David.
