New Superman Announced

The Last Son of Krypton has been found.
Several sites, including Deadline.com, are reporting that Warner Bros. have cast the new Superman for Zack Snyder's reboot. The lucky actor whose life is about to change? Henry Cavill.
According to Deadline, Snyder released a statement regarding the casting of Cavill.
In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.
So who exactly is Henry Cavill?
He's a 27-year-old British actor who has a number of movies under his belt, including The Count of Monte Cristo, Stardust, and Whatever Works. He also was in the Showtime series The Tudors. And he just wrapped up two movies, The Cold Light of Day and Immortals. In Immortals Cavill plays Greek warrior Theseus who battles Poseidon, Zeus, and Heracles. Cavill actually auditioned to be Batman in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins and he was also a contender to be the new James Bond but lost to Daniel Craig. I guess playing the most famous superhero is a good consolation prize for losing out to those roles.
Nolan is serving as "godfather" to the Superman reboot. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan and is targeted for release in December 2012.
So what do you think of the newest Superman?
