Rumors that Scream 4 was going back to do reshoots began after director Wes Craven announced on his Twitter account that he was "in Michigan getting you more to #SCREAM 4." Craven even Tweeted a photo of actress Alison Brie on a parking garage set, furthering the rumors.
To set the record straight, Craven spoke to Entertainment Weekly, revealing that he wasn't shooting reshoots, but additional footage for two pivotal scenes.
They’re not reshoots. We had a couple test screenings and we saw two scenes where they had moments you could add to and we just saw a spectacular opportunity. Bob [Weinstein] just said to me basically, "You go to your dark side and I’ll give you the money!" [Laughs] The two scenes were really good, but we saw how they could be spectacular, so we thought, let’s just go for it. They were key moments of the script, so we just decided to go back and go for the grand slam on them.
Craven also fought rumors that Scream 4's ending was being changed.
No, the ending is totally kick-ass. We’re not gonna touch that. [The scenes being added to are] one scene that’s kind of in the late beginning and one scene that’s a little bit later.
Besides Brie's parking garage moment, it's believed that the other scene involves Aimee Teegarden and Brittany Robertson's meeting with Ghostface. Teegarden also Tweeted that she was back for Scream 4, and later revealed that Robertson was there too.
Scream 4 opens April 15, and sees Neve Campbell return to Woodsboro only to be hunted by Ghostface once again. Kevin Williamson (Scream and Scream 2) wrote the screenplay, while Ehren Kruger (Scream 3) did rewrites. Courteny Cox, David Arquette, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Adam Brody, and Rory Culkin co-star.
