Diane Kruger Ends Superman Rumor as Lindsay Lohan Rumor Begins

The wheels on the Superman reboot casting rumor mill keep on turning.
First came reports that several actresses were on a shortlist for the Lois Lane role — including Olivia Wilde and
Kristen Stewart (whose reps denied the rumor). Then actresses Alice Eve, Diane Kruger, and Rosamund Pike were reportedly in contention for an undisclosed female lead role that wasn't Lois Lane, which led to speculation that Lane wouldn't be used in the franchise reboot. Latino Review clarified this rumor, raising fans' spirits by noting that Lois Lane will be in the Superman reboot, and revealing that Eve, Kruger, and Pike were instead testing for the villainous role of Ursa, seen in 1980's Superman II. According to Kruger, however, the actress isn't up for either.
While doing press for her upcoming thriller Unknown, Kruger told ComingSoon that the casting rumor was "not true," at least in terms of Kruger's involvement.
Pike may also be unavailable since she was recently cast in the Clash of the Titans sequel, Wrath of the Titans, which will start shooting next month and may be too much of a squeeze before Superman's June start.
Just to prove how ridiculous the Superman rumors have become, venerable news source TMZ reports via a "source" that Lindsay Lohan's "people" have had "multiple phone conversations within the last few weeks with the people behind the new Superman reboot" for Lohan to play a "major character" that wouldn't be Lois Lane. Is it the same source that informed TMZ that Lohan will be charged with felony grand theft after allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace? While it may be true that Lohan's "people" have been working the phones to try and get the actress a high-profile job, that's likely as far as it's gone. Throw this on on the rumor pile and light a match.
With only Henry Cavill cast as the Man of Steel, expect plenty more casting rumors up until director Zack Snyder starts rolling cameras on the next Superman adventure.
