Nathan Fillion Finally Wins the Green Lantern Role

Back before Ryan Reynolds was cast in the upcoming Green Lantern adaptation, fans were campaigning for Castle star Nathan Fillion to play the role, even creating a fan-made trailer starring Fillion as the emerald hero. Despite Fillion's similarity to the character of Hal Jordan, the actor lost out on the live-action role, but Warner Bros. has found an alternative for Fillion: voicing the character in an upcoming animated Green Lantern movie.
TVGuide reports that Fillion will voice the character in Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, arriving on DVD June 7 from Warner Bros. Animation. In the movie, Hal Jordan mentors Arisia, a new recruit to the Green Lantern Corps., voiced by Elisabeth Moss (Get Him to the Greek, Mad Men).
"I was always reading the comic books, I was always a spectator," responded Fillion. "Now I feel like I own a little piece of Green Lantern." The actor also thanked his fans via his Twitter page.
That's right. Because you wanted it, you DEMANDED it, I'm now the Green Lantern. Thanks!
Green Lantern: Emerald Knights releases only 10 days before the live-action movie enters theaters. While both Reynolds and Fillion worked together on the sitcom 2 Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place, Fillion insists there's no competition between the two actors.
He's a great guy, a gem, deserves all the success that he's getting, so it's neat to have a little piece and share it with someone you know.
Fillion also shares the distinction of playing Hal Jordan with Christopher Meloni, who voiced the character for Warners' other animated Green Lantern movie, 2009's Green Lantern: First Flight.
Right on cue, MTV has the first image from Emerald Knights, which depicts Hal and Arisia floating in space with several other Green Lanterns behind them in the distance.
Emerald Knights was co-directed by First Flight's Lauren Montgomery, along with Jay Oliva and Christopher Berkeley. the voice cast also includes Henry Rollins (Sons of Anarchy) as Kilowog, Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter movies) as Sinestro, legendary professional wrestler "Rowdy" Roddy Piper (They
Live) as Bolphunga, and Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy) as Abin Sur.
