Walt Disney Pictures has distributed a press release containing the official synopsis of director Tim Burton's new stop-motion animated movie, Frankenweenie, a feature-length adaptation of his 1984 short of the same name that starred Barret Oliver, Daniel Stern and Shelley Duvall.
After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.
Frankenweenie was written by John August from an original idea by Burton. The movie, which will utilize more than 200 puppets and sets, will be shot in black and white and rendered in 3-D. Voice actors currently attached to the project include Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short and Martin Landau.
