Shane Black Close to Directing Iron Man 3
02.18.11 by Ryan
Last week, reports revealed that writer/director Shane Black was "powwowing" with Marvel Studios about potentially taking over the directing reigns for Iron Man 3, now that Jon Favreau has moved on to Disney's
Magic Kingdom. Black was quick to advise caution on the matter, warning that "nothing has been decided yet." It may be decided now.
Deadline reports that Black is in "final negotiations" to direct Iron Man 3, though whether he will also write the script is unknown. Black got his start in Hollywood by writing screenplays like Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout before making his directorial debut with 2005's Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, which just happened to star Robert Downey Jr. and was produced by his wife, Susan Downey.
Black has several comic book projects lined up, with Columbia hiring him to direct an adaptation of Doc Savage last February and Warner Bros. hired Black to direct a live-action adaptation of Japanese Manga Death Note.
