New Teaser Trailer and Photo Released for The Hangover 2; Director Todd Phillips Discusses Making a Sequel

A handful of images for the upcoming The Hangover 2, including the recent photo of Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis, were released earlier this week. Today, a teaser trailer for director Todd Phillips' sequel was also released, a sequel that Phillips admitted to MTV was one of many being released this summer.
Yeah, this summer's gonna be crazy. Somebody told me yesterday that this year has more sequels than ever. And I was thinking to myself how crazy that is and then I realize I'm actually part of the problem. I've never done a sequel before, so I was really outraged until I just realized I just did one.
This meant that Phillips wasn't going to reunite with his Due Date star Robert Downey Jr. for Iron Man 3.
I wouldn't stand in front of a f--king green screen for 40 days. I mean, I couldn't. I'd put a bullet to my head. That kind of a shoot would drive me crazy. By the way, I'm not saying that it was offered to me and I didn't want to make it.
Instead Phillips was offered the opportunity to continue the adventures of Galifianakis, Cooper, Helms, and Justin Bartha as they head to Thailand for Helms' wedding. Luckily for Warner Bros., Phillips has a proven track record for delivering a successful, R-rated comedy.
It's funny. I got an email yesterday. I get these random emails sometimes from the numbers people either at Warner [Bros.] or at the agency where I'm represented and it was pointing out that I was the — and I might have this wrong because I don't have it in front of me — that I was the only director who directed a R-rated comedy that did $100 million in the US and $100 million overseas twice. In other words, Hangover and Due Date both did $100 million in each. And I was actually surprised.
With that amount of success, Warners has to feel confident that The Hangover 2 will repeat, which is why the teaser trailer confidently claims, "The Wolfpack is back."
