Trent Reznor To Slay Abraham Lincoln's Mom in Historically-Accurate Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter?

In Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the former President becomes a master slayer of the undead after his mother is murdered by one of the bloodsuckers. The Timur Bekmambetov-directed adaptation has been busily assembling its cast, hiring its Lincoln (Benjamin Walker), Lincoln's wife Mary Todd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Lincoln's best friend, and fellow vampire killer, Will Johnson (Anthony Mackie) and Lincoln's mentor in the ways of the undead, Henry Sturges (Dominic Cooper), but what about that vampire that started it all? Could it be played by industrial and goth rock icon Trent Reznor?
According to a report by Badass Digest, the answer is yes. Reportedly, Reznor will not only score the movie but will also appear as the vampire that sets off Lincoln's ax-wielding, vampire-destroying ways. Reznor is fresh off an Oscar win for co-writing the score for The Social Network.
The casting is, so far, unconfirmed and the movie is lambasted in the Badass Digest as a "lazy and dumb idea", but Mackie told The LA Times that the project is "a recontextualization of history."
There are actual moments and things that happened in the annals of time. Abraham Lincoln's friend William Johnson really was a freed man of color. This movie will tell us what pre-Emancipation Proclamation America was like. It puts you in a position where you want to go back and read a book about 1860-1925 America.
Mackie concedes that there are plenty of misconceptions made about the project, particularly about his character.
It's interesting reading the blogs, saying "Look at this token thing — they're going to put Abraham Lincoln with a black guy." No you dumb ... one of his best friends was a black dude.
Back to Reznor, who is quickly becoming the go-to guy for movie scores. Besides Vampire Hunter, SlashFilm reported in January that Reznor is currently working on the score for Social Network director David Fincher's next movie, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, alongside Social Network co-composer, Atticus Ross. Vampire Hunter could see Reznor work alone on the score.
In related news, Variety recently reported that Date Night actor Jimmi Simpson has joined the cast as Josh Speed, Lincoln's friend and personal assistant.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will be shot in 3-D and starts production in March. Tim Burton is producing the movie, which was scripted by screenwriter, and Vampire Hunter novelist, Seth Grahame-Smith.
